Fan is short for fanatic. It is an entirely appropriate term when you see the level of obsession that often accompanies fan activity. In particular fan fiction shows an incredible level of obsession. For the most part, this level of obsession is not matched by a similar level of skill. Every so often, something really good comes along - I think the following link is wonderful in a slightly crazy obsessive way so I thought I'd share it with you all.
